"Renewal" was the first in a new series of paintings inspired by my experiences in developing the pages of a concertina sketchbook. After months of working in sketchbooks and on paper, I had missed the beautiful give and take of painting on canvas. It felt like I had returned home… but in a new way. I’ve called the new series, Elements, because I continued to use similar materials and techniques on these canvases.
The sides of the canvas are textured and painted to match the rest of the background. The signature and date appear on the side.
