“Essence” is the second in a new group of small works on canvas within the Elements series. I’m beginning each of these with a word or concept, then painting the background color before adding ink, papers, and cloth Elements. There is a handwritten quote that barely shows through beneath the paint. It’s a quote by Alberto Villoldo…

The sides of the canvas are textured and painted to match the rest of the background. The signature and date appear on the side.
