Acrylic and canvas cloth on canvas
Autumn Shade was inspired by the rich fall colors I was craving at the time I painted this canvas. Every October, I travel back east to New York to visit family. This year the fall colors did not pop as they usually do. I never saw the vibrant colors of the season and missed it. I live in an area of California where there is minimal change in color. The leaves on most of the trees remain green all year.
Just prior to completing this painting, I was involved in 10 days of a crayon challenge. I can’t help but wonder… How much did that experience influence my choice of colors for this canvas?
The strips of raw canvas cloth were attached with gesso before any paint was applied. The sides of this gallery wrapped canvas are painted to match the painting. It is signed and dated on the side of the canvas.
